I do think you are correct that we have this ability to see wonder in something that we know is extractive exactly because there is no ability to extract wonder or knowledge for that matter. Neither can be conscripted. What I wonder - pun intended - is whether we will ever create enough gravity to change the waters we swim in vs our attitude about them.
